| Customer Reviews: Great book if you need to write a basic will! September 6, 2006 Jesse D. Walker (Logan, UT) 10 out of 10 found this review helpful
Absolutely the best resource for anyone wanting to write a basic will who doesn't need anything complicated. Now, in this 4th edition, the fill-in-the-blank will forms (the best part of the book) come on CD-ROM, so you don't have to type everything out. You could literally have a completed will half an hour after getting this item (you'll need two witnesses to sign your will, but no notary required). Plenty of descriptions of each section of the will, so you'll know all about wills in just a few hours if you read the whole book. If you need a more complicated will, NOLO (they have a great website too) has a more thorough book, "Nolo's Simple Will Book". But this book will work for most people, whether single, divorced, married (with or without kids), etc.
A wonderful primer on writing your own basic Will and it delivers on what it promises! October 8, 2007 ExecutorCoach.com (Princeton, NJ USA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I loved this book. It told me right up front what it was going to tell me and then told me. It was well written and very informative. This book is for people who want to make a simple inexpensive and basic Will. It is not for someone who expects to owe Federal Estate Taxes when they die. But it is for people who don't plan to die in the near future and currently they would not owe estate taxes. If you think you might owe some estate taxes, then you still may want to read this book to learn about the basics of understanding and creating a Will. But this book is not going to help you do real estate planning. You should get other books or consult professionals to help you do that. To minimize estate taxes you will probably need to create a trust or two. And this book is only about simple Wills.
This book will help the young person (whether married or not) learn how to leave their property to select beneficiaries, to name a guardian for their children, to name a trustee for their minor childrens' trust, and name an executor or executors. As the concepts are discussed there are numerous examples included to help the reader better and more easily understand what it is they are reading. And there are five sample Wills that work in all states (except Louisiana) and DC. The sample Wills are very straightforward and easy to use. Also, the book explains what happens if you don't have a Will when you die. After reading this book you will more than likely be convinced that you should take the time and effort to have your own Will. And if you have minor children you will see that you would be stupid not to have a Will. 5 stars!

An extremely helpful how-to guide December 16, 1998 5 out of 6 found this review helpful
I bought this book and three hours after opening it, I had a will written and ready to be witnessed. Denis Clifford has written an excellent resource for those of us with simple needs in ensuring our assets will go to the right individuals when we die. Extremely common-sense advice, a reassuring style, and a quick read! Great advice for the unmarried (like me), the married with or without children, and the single parent.
